Officials in Mexico's second largest city say a storm that dumped more than a metre of hail on parts of the Guadalajara area damaged hundreds of homes.
Highway 22 in southern Alberta was blanketed in what looked like snow but was probably hail, making roads slick and slow.
Power outages have been reported in several Rotorua suburbs.
