There has been a lack of snow in the Golovin area ever since the January 2014 warm spell.


An Iditarod Musher going pass the Dexter Trading Post from the Golovin Lagoon - on the other side you can see the beach grass - this spot usually has several feet of snow on the sides of the trail.

Golovin is on a point of land between Golovin Bay and Golovin Lagoon on the Seward Peninsula in western Alaska.
