Observer: An abandonment of brown pelican nests is observed, some of these nests are abandoned with chicks or eggs. On one occasion, an adult was observed in its nest, the nest contained a small chick and an egg. The adult pelican was waiting for its partner to arrive to take over, but it never arrived. After a while that the pelican was in its nest and the chick was begging for food this whole time, the adult abandoned the nest. Five minutes after the adult abandoned the nest, the chick and egg were depredated.
